TRANSCONTINENTAL B -- Launched in 1955 with a great deal of fanfare as a "traveler's watch," The Transcontinenal B features a special dial with a map of the US showing all time zones (plus Greenwich Mean Time) to make it easy to determine the time anywhere in the country. Despite the clever concept, it was a marketing failure and these watches are extremely hard to find today -- especially the "B" in 14K gold. (The "A" was made in gold-fill and is far less rare). This is a beautiful example with excellent unengraved gold case and near-mint original dial with two-tone silver map in the center. (I can set the hour hand to the buyer's local time zone.) It is complete with original inner and outer boxes. The movement is a self-winding Automatic and has just been overhauled. Very rare! $1,500.
